ROUTE 140/HARTFORD AVE. EAST INTERSECTION RECONFIGURATION This project has been in the works for a couple of years, and is scheduled to start within one year. It is being administered by Mass. Highway through the T.I.P. program, which provides federal funding for roads in need of upgrades, such as this intersection. Public meetings have been held in both Hopedale and Mendon to discuss the project and concerns that residents may have. This project will impact a number of properties on Hartford Ave. East and Route 140, since the purpose of the change is to widen Hartford Ave. East enough to accommodate trucks turning both North and South, and also to mitigate traffic congestion westbound. A set of plans with the most recent revisions is now available for viewing at the Highway Department, and includes the 100% submission. This project is not to be confused with the resurfacing of Hartford Ave. East, which was recently introduced to the town, and for which, a sum of money was approved by the voters for engineering fees. This project is discussed in more depth on a separate page.
