Important Information on Invasive Plants Before introducing plants to your property, check to see if they could be invasive. Invasive plants have few, if any, natural enemies and reproduce quickly. This causes invasives to overtake native species and may lead to disruption of ecosystems.
Some examples of invasive species are:

Norway Maple, Acer platanoides L.

Purple Loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria L.

Oriental or Asian Bittersweet, Celastrus or Biculatus
For an overview of this problem in Massachusetts and for a list of invasive plants, go to the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife web site.
