Welcome to Mendon Parks & Recreation

The Parks Commission is dedicated to providing diverse, recreational opportunities for all citizens, without regard to age, ethnicity, social or monetary status. In addition, the Commission shall maintain, upgrade, and increase Mendon's public and park lands. These parcels may include (but not limited to) cemetaries, park lands, monuments and other public facilities, and recreational fields.

The Parks Department is comprised of three commissioners: Chair, Joe Flaherty, Sue Barnett and AJ Byrne, Jr. The Administrative Clerk is Jennifer Welch.

Summer season:  Mon-Thurs 8 am - 1 pm.  Parks Building, Memorial Park.

2010 Junior Counselor Program

The Mendon Parks Department has made significant changes to the Junior Counselor (JC) Program. Interested participants will receive training in core fundamental skills to become a counselor in the Kids 'N Us Recreation Program. Some examples of training recieved is CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety. The program has been split into three week sessions.  The fee is $120 per session.  All participants will be expected to complete one of the three week sessions prior to being considered for a paid counselor position (in future years)*.

To be eligible for our Junior Counselor Program, applicants must have finished 8th grade prior to the opening day of the recreation program.  Sessions will run Monday-Friday from 9 am - 1 pm.  Registration forms for this program can be found by clicking on the following link:  Junior Counselor Program.

*Please note: completion of the Junior Counselor program does not guarantee employment as a counselor in the Kids 'N Us Recreation Program.

Kids 'N Us Recreation Program

The Mendon Parks Department has recently hired Dannielle Byrne as the Director of the Kids 'N Us Recreation Program.  Dannielle is currently the Director of Just A Wee Day Child Care Center in Mendon which was established in 1960.  She brings a wealth of experience in developing educationally based programs for children ages 6 weeks through 9 years.  She has decided to bring this experience to Mendon and surrounding towns through the Kids 'N Us Recreation Program.

Swim Lessons

All remaining swim lessons will have a maximimum number of 8 children.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis.  There will be no sign ups allowed on the first day of the program.  All registrations must be done prior to the start of the session.  Swim Lesson Registration forms for the 2010 Season are now available here:  2010 Swim Registration.  Sign up today!  

Our Learn to Swim Program will follow the guidelines placed by the American Red Cross.  An explanation for each of the 6 levels of swimming lessons can be found by following this link:  Learn to Swim Program

The Mendon Town Beach:

NOW OPEN DAILY  12 - 5 PM.

Concerts on the Beach August 4th, 11th and 25th.  Concerts begin at 6:30 pm with childrens activities on the 4th and 11th beginning at 5:30.   Come Join Us!

The Snack Shack:

OPEN WEEKDAYS 12 - 4 PM. CLOSED ON WEEKENDS.

Memorial Park:

Horseshoe Pits have been added in the picnic area of Memorial Park. Park goers may use the "pits," but must bring their own shoes.

Have an event you'd like to have at one of our fields/parks for a nominal fee?  If you plan to use any portion of a field/park for a small or large gathering/event, you are required to submit an application.  To request the use of a field/park for leagues or individual events click on this link:  Field Use Form.
